Broadcom 1.60 Driver for vSphere 4.1

I’m in the process of updating all of our HP bl460 blades to the new 1.60 Broadcom NIC driver from vmware for vSphere 4.1 found Here. This new Driver supports DCC on the nic and allows Smart Link to alert the ESX vmnic or pnic when a physical uplink has failed so that traffic can be routed to another vmnic or pnic when teamed.

You can use this command to see what version of broadcom nic you are currently running: esxupdate query –vib-view . I usually grep for bnx

To update the driver download the ISO, either attach the ISO to your blade, or open the ISO and pull out the offline bundle and update the driver with the esxupdate command.

esxupdate update -bundle= –maintenancemode

You can find a lot of useful information on the Broadcom Ethernet NIC FAQ site.
